Parish Conservation Challenge
Following the meeting at which a parish conservation group was formed, we have been offered the chance to take part in the Parish Conservation Challenge. The Challenge offers up to £500 to spend on conservation activities that will revive or improve the landscape and wildlife habitat within a parish. Our challenge is to decide upon conservation priorities so that the money can be spent on some appropriate activities within the two year timescale of the project.
You may want some help in identifying that bird or plant or butterfly spotted on your daily dog walking route. Or you may even want to learn some traditional crafts and leave a lasting impact on your neighbourhood at the same time. Some of you may prefer to find out more about our local history or wildlife from the comfort of your armchair and let others labour in the great outdoors.
The Wychwood Project which is supporting the Challenge is able to provide access to a wide range of people with the expertise to help us all develop our knowledge, skills and enjoyment of the countryside.
If you have any ideas or views about conservation locally, come along to the Parish Hall on Friday 20th January 2006 between 6 - 8pm or on Saturday 21st January 2006 between 10am - 12 noon to share them without any commitment with Jane Bowley, the Parish Conservation Challenge Project Officer, over a cup of coffee. Jane and a colleague are looking forward to learning your knowledge of the area and discussing your ideas for conservation projects. The conservation group will then be able to identify those activities that local people would like to see done.
